Cancelled for now due to Snowzilla!
Star Davis and Pat Hand will headline the Let There Be Light event at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, January 26, at Smith Theatre on the campus of Howard Community College. Both Star and Pat will speak on their fascinating professions, careers, projects and their respective work for the Inner Arbor Trust on Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods, and the Chrysalis.
Star Davis, Associate IALD, is an award-winning Lighting Designer in the New York City studio of the global firm Arup. Star received recognition by her industry peers for her work on the Fulton Center transportation hub in lower Manhattan, and her current projects include the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Expansion (designed by Snohetta), and the Lowline, the subterranean counterpart to New York’s High Line linear park. Star is also the lead lighting designer for Merriweather Park and its first structure, the Chrysalis, which is a stage, pavilion and sculpture (designed by artist/architect Marc Fornes of THEVERYMANY). The art of Star’s lighting is grounded in the analytical understanding of human perception, optics, material, and atmospheric phenomena. With a Master of Fine Arts in Architectural Lighting from Parsons, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Duke University, Star is also an adjunct professor of graduate students in lighting and daylighting at Parsons, The New School for Design, which is ranked as one of the top five design schools in the world.
