The Shingles are here! The Shingles are here!
A. Zahner Company, the family owned, Kansas City based engineer-builder to the Starchitects (in this case Marc Fornes of THEVERYMANY), which is responsible to the Inner Arbor Trust for the one-of-a-kind Chrysalis canopy of galvanized Steel, aluminum ZEPPS and aluminum Shingles, has commenced the third and final phase of that tripartite responsibility. 7,700 Shingles, in 11 shapes and sizes, and in 4 different Spring Green colors, are onsite and going up. The all aluminum Shingles have been factory painted with a high-grade Valspar Fluropon architectural color coating. From this "raw" material, in its Kansas City, highly computerized fabrication shop, Zahner cut, folded, drilled and trimmed each shingle, and carefully packed and crated them by type and color, before shipping them to the Chrysalis site in Columbia, Maryland. Each Shingle is secured to the silver aluminum substrate by a minimum of 4 rivets, for a total of 45,000 rivets.
